The Forerunner 255 boasts a whole host of new features that make the watch the most advanced running watch in the Forerunner 2 series we've seen so far, yet which still features the same super user-friendly interface we know from the Forerunner 245 and other Garmin models.
NEW SPORTS PROFILES AND ACTIVITIES IN THE FORERUNNER 255 MUSIC
The Garmin Forerunner 255 and Forerunner 255 Music are essentially a running watch designed specifically for highly dedicated runners, who want a running watch that can provide data and insight into their running with analysis and improvements.
The Garmin Forerunner 255 have been upgraded to feature a wide range of sports profiles, meaning that the watch can be used for more than just simply running.
DESIGN AND SCREEN
The Forerunner 255S model measures 41 x 41 x 12.4 mm and have 218x218 pixels. All Forerunner 255 watches feature a durable display made from Corning Gorilla Glass, and are waterproof up to 5 ATM.
BATTERY LIFE
In regular watch mode (smartwatch mode), the battery life lasts for a maximum of 12 days.
With GPS the battery life lasts for up to 26 hours.
A new feature of the Forerunner 255 is its ability to receive Multiband GPS, which means that you can receive satellite connections from different systems simultaneously.
Note: The battery life is reduced with Multiband turned on.
ADVANCED PERFORMANCE ANALYSIS
The Garmin Forerunner 255 helps you analyse your training before, during and after training through the performance monitoring feature. In addition to this, the watch is able to show you whether you are training your endurance or maximum effect with aerobic and anaerobic training effect.
With the Garmin Forerunner 255, you get both performance status, training status, training load and recommended recovery time as tools to achieve the best possible effect from your running training.
TRAINING STATUS
Based on your latest training sessions and performance, the training status function evaluates your body's physical condition. Through measuring such performance indicators, the watch is able to help show you whether or not your training is productive, optimal or overexertive. On the Forerunner 255, this feature has received an upgrade.
ACUTE LOAD
With Acute Load, the watch helps to measure your most recent activities, so you can make sure you train with the right intensity and avoid training too hard or too little.
SMARTWATCH AND FITNESS TRACKER
The Garmin Forerunner 255 is also your daily fitness tracker that measures steps, calories, heart rate, sleep tracking and much more.
With the Forerunner 255, you are able to receive notifications, telephone calls, calendar and weather reports, and much more, as long as the watch is connected to your smartphone via bluetooth.
ADVANCED SLEEP REGISTRATION INCLUDING HRV STATUS
The Garmin Forerunner 255 measures your sleep rhythm and uses the accelerometer, Garmin Elevate and Pulse Ox sensor to register how you move during the night and how you lie. In addition to this, the feature also measures your HRV status, thereby giving you information about whether you are ready to exercise or whether you ought to lay off slightly.
SPORTS PROFILES
The Garmin Forerunner 255 is more than merely a running watch. For the first time ever, it has been made into a multisport watch, so you can partake in multiple activities at once. Moreover, you get the classic sports profiles, such as running, cycling and swimming, as well as various fitness profiles. CONNECTION
The Garmin Forerunner 255 has both Wi-Fi, bluetooth and ANT+ connectivity.

With the Forerunner 255, the watch can be paired with third-party heart rate monitors that run using bluetooth, as well as connect to all new wireless bluetooth headsets.
GARMIN CONNECT
Use Garmin Connect on either your smartphone or PC/Mac to get the most out of your Forerunner 255. Garmin Connect is Garmin's online universe, which collects all relevant data about you, so you can easily and quickly gain an overview of, for example, how many steps you have walked or how your sleeping pattern has been.
Garmin Connect is more than just a library for your data. Using Garmin Connect, you can challenge your friends in various challenges, such as steps, races, or something completely different.
